About

Su Ballard is an art writer and curator.

From January 2012 she will teach visual and media arts theory in the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Wollongong.

From 2006- 2011 she established and taught in Electronic Arts at the Dunedin School of Art, Aotearoa New Zealand, whilst moonlighting in Photography and Art Theory.

Her current research investigates the contribution of artists to contemporary notions of utopia, the antipodes and distance. She is also obsessed with sound, noise and the political and cultural implications of a materialist reading of media arts in gallery environments. But mostly she is interested in experience, accidents, errors and curiosity in art galleries.

With Stella Brennan, Su edited the The Aotearoa Digital Arts Reader published by Clouds in 2008. She is a founding trustee and director of The ADA (Aotearoa Digital Arts) Network.
